Fashion and Flowers: A perfect Match

We were brushing up on our bridal fashion when we stumbled across this dress on WeddingBee.com (a super wedding blog). The simple elegance reminded us of our recent arrangement for a Fashion Week event, so we had to post it!  It’s Carolina Herrera, and as they wisely noted on WeddingBee, perfect for a chic city-hall bride. We’ll add that it’s just as perfect for a cool destination bride  – this is a Palm Springs dress if we ever saw one. Plus, we’ve already worked out the bouquet (imagine something based on the below with black ribbon…gorgeous), and envisioned an entire beautiful black-and-white themed decor scheme, um…hello…someone should take advantage of all our hard work!  Enjoy Fashion Week everybody.  Work that runway, girls!

And here’s the arrangement:

The Country (Club) Life

What do you think of when you think of country clubs? Is it elegant women clad head-to-toe in Lilly Pulitzer eating chicken salad out of hollowed out tomatoes next to the crystal blue pool while their kids play water polo?  A really sensible place to have a wedding? How’d you know that was where I was going? You’re so smart.

Anyplace that already owns it’s own kitchen equipment, tables and chairs, let alone linens and all that goes on top has already saved you a boatload of money over some beautiful rented location that markets itself as “a blank slate.” Trust me, once you look into the price of hauling an entire chef’s kitchen and outfitted dining room up the mountain to that beautiful open field you’ve rented, you’ll come back down to earth very quickly.

Enter the country club – an institution that makes it’s money maintaining itself and it’s grounds beautifully and providing it’s members an elegant place to entertain.  Could there be a type of building or venue better suited than that? 95% of clubs allow non-members to use the space, usually with the recommendation of a member. Don’t know any members? In this economy, the director of catering will likely be very happy to introduce you to one.  Do keep an eye on the contract: don’t sign anything right there in the office, take it home overnight to review, and have at least one other set of eyes look too.  Make sure everything is as you agreed, because these organizations can be very much “letter of the law” types on wedding day.

Want to know more? We’ll be at a bridal show tomorrow (March 13) at the Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert. Come see the space! Come see us! Come live the Country (club) Life!

To be added to the guest list, please call 760.345.2737 or simply stop by 39205 Palm Valley Drive, Palm Desert, on March 13, 2011.

The Ultimate Second Banana Wedding – bless her heart

The Daily Mail reports that Prince William’s cousin Zara Phillips is giving herself a new royal title: Lady Banana of Matrimony II.  Zara is engaged to marry her longtime rugby star boyfriend.  She’s beautiful, blonde, and will no doubt have a flawless wedding. BUT, you see, she’s managed to schedule it a few months after Wills and Kate’s to-do, therefore, the court graphic design team is very busy developing a new family crest featuring two majestically yellow pieces of fruit.  According to palace insiders, several designs have already been discarded as “too Tommy Bahama.”

After all, being 12th in line to the throne is very serious business, indeed.

Pencil in another royal wedding on your calendar.

After much speculation about the date, Prince William‘s cousin Zara Phillips and her fiancé, rugby player Mike Tindall, have decided to marry on July 30 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
A simple statement was issued by the press secretary to Queen Elizabeth, Zara’s grandmother, on Wednesday. “Miss Zara Phillips and Mr. Mike Tindall will be married at the Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh, on Saturday, 30th July,” it read.

Phillips, 29, the daughter of William’s aunt, Princess Anne, is 12th in line to the throne. She and Tindall announced their engagement in December.Like William and Kate Middleton, who will wed April 29, Phillips and Tindall will have their post-nuptial reception at a palace – in their case, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

Congratulations Zara…it’s all in good fun my dear.  Jolly good fun.
