You want even more wedding centerpieces? Now this is getting personal..

The stats don’t lie, centerpieces are all the rage. And why not?  They do make a good starting point.  So now we get personal. Here’s the scoop (and the photos) of the centerpieces from my October 2010 wedding expertly planned, designed and coordinated by My Little Flower Shop, soup to nuts.

My now husband and I told Greg the colors we liked, and that we wanted the wedding to be on the contemporary side.  From there, Greg came up with the idea that instead of one big design in the center of the table, he would do three smaller ones – more of a tablescape than a centerpiece.  The outcome was elegant and modern, and suited us perfectly.

This low, rectangular centerpiece element is green cymbidium orchids and seeded eucalyptus in a natural fiber container

 

This centerpiece element consists of tightly clustered green button poms in a modern glass container lined with a ti leaf
This centerpiece element added height to the trio with white dendrobium orchids in a bed of moss in a neutral ceramic container
Pin-spot lights focused on each table highlight and unify the three pieces and make the glassware sparkle
The tables varied: there were also low arrangements made of green roses.

She’s coming out of the wedding blog closet: Our Mystery Wedding Expert Unveiled

Ever wonder why you see a lot of this bride and groom on the blog?

Well,  here’s your answer: that’s me, Dinah, and my husband Stephen on our wedding day in Palm Springs.  I have been writing the My Little Flower Shop blog since February, 2011. In this shot, I’m holding my gorgeous bouquet, clearly, the My Little Flower Shop team knocked it out of the park.

My job with the blog is to help all who read it get in the game.  Getting married? This is a great source of inspiration, practical advice and laughs on your road down the aisle. Starting your own wedding business or blog? Why not stay inside the head of a successful small business in a U.S. destination wedding-heaven resort community?  Enjoy slightly corny special event humor? You definitely have found the right place.

Beyond My Little Flower Shop, my experience ranges from writing etiquette advice at Wedding Channel.com, to helping coordinate celebrity weddings for Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Carmen Electra, Robert Wagner and Dustin Hoffman.  Most importantly, I was a bride – just a year ago.  I know how it feels from both sides, and can share that unique view of the crazy, beautiful world of weddings, flowers and high end special events.

What could be worse on your honeymoon than finding out you’ve arrived at your destination in the middle of a country wide labor strike? or flu epidemic? Well, Hills and her team at the State Department, in addition to headband shopping and making sure no one touches the Indian Prime Minister with their left hand, have put together a great resource for all honeymooners and other vacation-taking Americans. The Travel Advisory website will alert you to where the Government really thinks you should avoid.  And though they mess a lot up in Washington these days, when they say skip the Kenyan safari right now, ignore the cheap tickets and listen. They don’t make the warnings lightly.

As for Hillary’s other honeymoon advice, no matter how well she says pant-suits travel, leave them at home, k?
