An amazing, unique woman. Are we surprised Betty Ford was a beautiful, confident bride? Nah.

What fun in our Betty Ford reading to turn up these happy wedding photos from 1948.  An ‘encore bride’ (who spoke openly about her divorce – not common in those days) she wore a gorgeous satin two piece suit with matching hat and shoes.  As flower folk we love the (now) vintage look of the ribbon actually smack in the middle of the bouquet. Why not? Double faced satin ribbon is so luscious – why not highlight it rather than hide it around the stems?

Enjoy the pictures, our thanks to the Ford Library for keeping them in the public domain.

Dahhling, you must meet Dahlia!

Meet the Dahlia.  With it’s depth and wide face it fills out arrangements and bouquets with character.  Coming in a range of rich saturated colors as well as variegated yellows and pinks, it’s a breath of fresh air in the standard wedding lineup.  And going by some of the meanings ascribed to the different colors, you couldn’t find a more appropriate flower to include in your celebration.

Variegated dahlia – “I think of you constantly”

White dahlia – “gratitude to parents”

(this one’s the kicker)

Yellow dahlia – “I’m happy you love me”

Our blog is the “Featured Blog” at the moment under the “Event Planning” tag on WordPress.  Not sure how they work that, or how long it will last, but to quote Elvis, who honeymooned in Palm Springs  “Thank you, thankyouverymuch.”(the Elvis Honeymoon House is a cool event venue, you should take a look) No more boasting.  At least before noon. 😛  http://en.wordpress.com/tag/event-planning/
