You Can’t Take A Palm Springs Florist On Vacation!

A wedding florist? Busy for Labor Day? Yes- Rosh Hashanah too! But no matter where I go, I can’t get events out of my head. A backyard barbecue? I’m mentally  measuring the place for tables. A High Holiday service? I’m picking out the perfect spot for a chuppah,

and how My Little Flower Shop would decorate the aisles.  It never turns off ! We are event designers 24/7, even on vacation.  (Do you know what kind of charity ball you could throw at The Louvre?) So I go with it, and know that in the end it can only benefit the couples who come to seek out a wedding florist in Palm Springs. Here we are!  The ideas never stop.  Come on in.

Wedding Movie of the Week! 1939 Epic Drama – Gone With The Wind

Although 1939’s Gone With The Wind, takes place at the start of the civil war, Scarlett O’Hara’s wedding dress would have fit right into the assortment of giant confectionery creations that went down the aisle in the 1980s.

But other than that, this film is the type of motion picture they just don’t make anymore*.  Grand and sweeping, this civil war epic will seem familiar- but only because every film that’s been made since has borrowed something from it.  If you’ve seen it before, see it again.  It’s a revelation how much they were able to do in 1939, and a little depressing that we’ve not lived up to the great promise of the medium.  OK, film school lecture over.  Dismissed!

Wedding Movie of the Week! Father of the Bride -Ultimate Wedding Comedy

The 1991 adaptation of Father of the Bride starring Steve Martin is on AFI’s top 100 comedies of all time.  This does not surprise me.  Steve Martin is an American comedy legend, and as longtime readers of this blog know, I adore Martin Short’s performance in the role of Franck, the wedding planner, and have posted before about the film.

I have not seen the Spencer Tracy/Elizabeth Taylor original.  I suppose I should.  Somehow, I’d rather just sit and watch Steve Martin masterfully portray the simultaneous confusion of losing his little girl, and being inducted into the strange world of weddings. Oh, BTW? The AFI thinks it’s funnier than “The Jerk.” I concur.
