Inner peace through flowers? Why not?

Flowers are very peaceful by nature – they are pleasing to the eye, and when contemplated, their complexity and beauty amazes scientists, scholars and poets alike. We at My Little Flower Shop like to send peace into the world with our arrangements, and some of the locations we are most proud to do that are at houses of worship, and places of healing.  Churches, synagogues, hospitals, clinics and hospices play an important role in the spiritual and physical health of our community, and we hope our arrangements help promote the positive energy of their environments.  Here is a piece doing double duty – a weekly arrangement we do for Desert Regional Medical Center that is shown here in their non-denominational chapel.  We appreciate their patronage and their allowing us to participate in caring for our Desert community.
We would be pleased and honored to help bring peace and beauty to your home on a weekly or one-time basis.  Please visit us.

Phew! We’re exhaling happily as Valentine’s 2011 fades to black

Hear that? That’s the sound of the My Little Flower Shop team singing the praises of Father Time for getting Valentine’s Day behind us so successfully. Thanks to everyone who made it possible, meaning both employees and customers. V-day is the second biggest holiday in the Floral world, first being Mothers’ Day.  Both lead to a certain level of chaos around the store, but it’s always fun. There’s something cool about being part of a floral design marathon that leaves you ankle deep in stems, leaves and little scraps of ribbon.  Plus, if you ever want to witness pure happiness, volunteer to deliver Valentine flowers.  I guarantee, no one has ever been more glad to see you than that little blonde at H&R Block getting her first dozen roses in front of an office full of co-workers. You will suddenly understand why people name their children “Joy” because you will witness its’ beauty.

The aforementioned aftermath in the store is not so beautiful, but I thought I’d share this shot of our dear Alan (an extremely talented designer) among the wreckage so that people could see the flip side.  It may not be the beautiful part, but it is the stuff joy is made of, and that, I believe, is what drives us as designers.  The secret? We create joy the other 363 days a year – not just Valentine’s and Mothers’ Day. We’re happy to spread it your direction. You know where to find us.

Meanwhile, back at the (Smoke Tree) Ranch…

The day was bright and clear and the whole affair was more beautiful than you can imagine.  But I don’t want to overburden you with all that imagining, so hang tight and we’ll get some of the photographer’s shots up on the blog as soon as we can.  While running around getting all our details in place, someone was reminded of the scene in one of the Muppet movies – I think it was “The Muppets Take Manhattan” which begins with the Muppets frantically pulling together the last minute touches for a wedding: Kermit and Miss Piggy’s.  There’s something about being part of the community that creates the magic of weddings that is a very special privilege.  It’s crazy and hectic, but also there are times when everyone’s working together and it’s all humming along and it wouldn’t seem out of place for everyone to break out into song like the Muppets do.  Enjoy the photo of Saturday’s beautiful decor, and this clip of “Somebody’s Getting Married Today.”
