Beautiful Birthday Bubble Bowl…but why not a wedding centerpiece?

Somebody had a happy birthday….and received this beautiful piece of floral art. This stunning arrangement uses white dendrobium orchids, lilac roses, and three varieties of miniature calla lillies to create the color blocks that keep it modern.  Brides, there’s no reason that any arrangement you see in any section of our store or our website can’t be fashioned into a centerpiece.  Just because it’s not on the “Centerpieces” page doesn’t rule anything out.  So keep an open mind when you see flowers you love…anywhere.  Snap photos!  God didn’t give us cell phones with cameras so we could take self portraits in the bathroom.

Centerpieces: Some Start in The Very Beginning, but We’re Going To Start in the Center.

OMG! You’ve only been engaged for ten minutes, but everyone wants to know, “what are your colors?”  It’s a panic-inducing question for a newly engaged bride.  Most think immediately of bridesmaids’ dresses – and sure- that’s a big splash of color.  But we recommend starting in the center: your centerpiece.

Think about a floral arrangement in the middle of a beautiful table – you’ll see many colors together, and maybe one will pop out and help clarify your thoughts, or at least get the thoughts flowing.

Tall centerpieces shine at an elegant affair

Having a theme wedding? Working in references to your culture or background? Centerpieces are a great way to incorporate elements without hammering people over the head.  Think shell encrusted containers of flowers at a beach celebration, or including “Bells of Ireland” flowers to honor your Irish heritage.

Last, centerpieces are the bulk of your “wow” factor – and they deserve to be highlighted.  Talk to your event designer about pin spotting each of your tables to show off that beautiful creation in the middle.

Start thinking about your tablescapes early, in fact you might want to make the centerpiece the very beginning of your vision.  I hear it’s a very good place to start.

Size Does Matter. (oh go on. Get your mind out of the gutter).

Capturing the Big moment!

Does size matter? We have big cars, big houses and in New Jersey’s case, bless their hearts, big hair. So, why did we call our business My Little Flower Shop? After all, our events are no small affairs.

Long ago in a land far, far away (ok- so it was the Beverly Hills Hotel) I, Dinah, worked a very fancy wedding with a  Big High Profile Event Planner. Every day ran according to a detailed timeline. The morning of the wedding, something caught my eye. ” 4:30 (Big Event Planner’s name here) Hair/Make-Up.”

Double checking, I confirmed with her assistant that the Big Event Planner was indeed being professionally beautified that afternoon.  This brides’s family was paying more than the state budget of Idaho to carpet the ballroom white, bring in full size trees and who knows what else, and this woman is getting her hair done at crunch time? Really?
The lesson here is that she thought herself Important and Big. We, on the other hand, know we have an important role to play in a brides’s BIG day. It’s the day that’s BIG. It’s our bride’s BIG moment. And that’s why we are My Little Flower Shop.
