Wedding Season’s Not Over Y’all! Palm Springs Brides Gear Up for Fall

The summer months are over, and June brides seem like a distant memory considering all the work we’ve done since then.  But Wedding Season is not over in the Desert. We at My Little Flower Shop are gearing up. Starting our engines. Getting Ready, Set and, frankly, already Going! We’re busy bees, and parties and weddings are falling into place for Fall.  Autumn is an amazingly beautiful time of year to get married in Palm Springs and the surrounding area.  The Coachella Valley glows, and everyone is energized by the cooler weather’s arrival.

Our Fall weddings don’t conform to a “autumn leaves and acorns” type of decor.  In Palm Springs no one says “Oh you can’t do (insert wedding element/trend/color here) in the Fall”  We don’t do seasonal weddings – we just do RodJeffWed_547beautiful weddings. In every season. And with our beautiful weather, you’re not stuck with a Winter Wonderland motif just because it happens to be winter. Innovative color schemes, florals and menus that don’t scream AUTUMN abound. Or if you’re into that whole warm color leaf-peeper kind of vibe, we can put a hip spin on it and serve it up Palm Springs style.

Celebrating 9/11 Event Planner style

Everyone is breathing easier after 9/11. Organizations, municipalities, families and friends all marked 9/11 in their own way.  Many were quiet and somber affairs, for our part, we had an elegant but casual dinner party for 10.  Tablecloths, shining silverware, sparkling wine glasses, and 5 couples having a marvelous time. At first we questioned the wisdom of the date – but it was the night everyone was free.  After thinking, we realized there had to be event planners who we lost on 9/11. And floral designers, and caterers.  People whose passion for celebration should be honored – by us celebrating any and all occasions. 

So we salute those who gathered in joy yesterday: and we encourage everyone to celebrate every day.  Rudy Giuliani said at the funeral of a fire captain who died in the towers that it was now up to us to go out and live the life that the first responders had died to save.  Make sure you do your part. Do some living, some laughing, some dancing, and toasting.  To Life!

Being the ‘Loud and Obnoxious’ Person and Not Knowing It August 24, 2011

So, I think I’m ‘that girl.’ The one who is loud and obnoxious. I noticed this during a meeting yesterday. I laughed a lot and loudly. My voice raised in volume while I was telling a story. I over-exaggerated with my inflection.The weird thing is that I don’t do that all the time. It’s usually only when I feel comfortable with certain groups of people. I guess that’s good, but I wonder how those groups of people view me when I am loud and obnoxious?I’ve never asked anyone. I just had this mini-revelation yesterday, so I haven’t had a chance to take a survey. Up to this point, it’s not something I’ve been able to control. It comes out naturally in certain settings. Maybe I should be thankful that I feel so comfortable with certain people. However, I wonder if sometimes I go too far.”
