Beautiful Birthday Bubble Bowl…but why not a wedding centerpiece?

Somebody had a happy birthday….and received this beautiful piece of floral art. This stunning arrangement uses white dendrobium orchids, lilac roses, and three varieties of miniature calla lillies to create the color blocks that keep it modern.  Brides, there’s no reason that any arrangement you see in any section of our store or our website can’t be fashioned into a centerpiece.  Just because it’s not on the “Centerpieces” page doesn’t rule anything out.  So keep an open mind when you see flowers you love…anywhere.  Snap photos!  God didn’t give us cell phones with cameras so we could take self portraits in the bathroom.

The Official Guide to Finding a Wedding Officiant

Wow, that really does sound official! Although the Officiant at your wedding is called upon to perform the most solemn and serious duty, it’s not what they do that I’m addressing today.  Rather, it’s when you find the person who is going to share this incredibly intimate moment with you and your fiancé.

The correct answer is, the sooner the better.  Somehow this most crucial role often gets put at the bottom of the list, but the better you know your pastor, Rabbi or other civic leader, the better prepared you’ll be for the big day.  And the basic formula is: prepared+wedding day = ability to relax and enjoy oneself.

You’ll want to know, for instance, if your favorite pastor won’t marry you outside the church sanctuary – not a happy discovery if you’ve already put a deposit down on another ceremony location.  Perhaps your Priest has counseling requirements.  The last thing you’ll want to be squeezing into your schedule two weeks before the wedding is four hours of pre-marital classes.

Last, and I hinted at this at the start, this is a very personal moment. The sooner you meet with your officiant, the sooner you can begin developing a relationship between the three of you. Your ceremony will be more personal and meaningful when performed by someone who actually knows you.  Start early, and by the time you meet on wedding day you’ll be old friends sharing a wonderful experience.

The World’s Best Wedding Planning Advice: In through the nose…out through the mouth.

Greetings all, and a happiest of first-business-day-of-the-New-Year to all. To newly engaged couples: CONGRATULATIONS! But be prepared, wedding planning can be tough. But on behalf of My Little Flower Shop, I say Fear Not!  There is a mantra that applies to any wedding situation, question or pickle.  You’ve read it here before, but excellent wedding planning advice bears repeating:

Breathe, stand up straight and enjoy your moment. 

Don’t worry and get overwhelmed by the whole process.  You’ll take it in pieces, and you’ll hire people you trust (more on selecting wedding vendors in the coming days.).  For now, savor the initial head rush of being newly engaged.  And don’t forget to adore the amazing person who you’re going to marry.  Sign up for updates to our blog for wedding tips, ideas and advice.
