Why do we need to start the day with food in our belly? Well there’s the whole fuel for your body angle, but we’re going a little more metaphysical here. Feeding yourself makes you feel more centered. By eating, you’ve made time to take care of yourself in a super-basic way, but you’ve also set an unconscious precedent. You’re learning to take the time you need to take care of you. The habit of treating oneself well isn’t an easy one to learn, but if you make the tiny change of stopping for a brief spot of “you” time every morning, you’ll be on your way. Breakfast is the beginning of your day. And as a wise lyricist once wrote, the beginning is a very good place to start.
